Traditional Use Study Information System

The ground you live on is the ground you stand on. It is both where you have come from and where you are going. It is your past, present and future. It is in your heart and soul. SpatialQ is the world's first information system designed to honour and serve this basic philosophy. SpatialQ, for the first time in history, merges precious Traditional Use Study, Traditional Ecological Knowledge and other important cultural information with the power of GIS in an easy-to-use framework that allows you to quickly access everything you need to make the best decisions. Protecting and nurturing your land while developing and improving the lives of your people is an enormous responsibility and an exhausting challenge. SpatialQ makes that easier.

Preservation.

SpatialQ works with leading geospatial formats from ESRI© and Autodesk© as well as other open geospatial standards. It is built upon proven open source technologies and is hosted online for maximum accessibility. Your TUS, TEK and cultural information are securely stored and hosted on some of the fastest servers available today and can be accessed at any time. SpatialQ uses strong encryption to secure your data and serve it up fast over high speed networks. You limit access to who has permission to your data, if it is ever needed. Effectively managing your data has never been this easy, secure, accessible and well thought out. SpatialQ makes sense.

Below is our window into your data. You can securely and safely access your data using any current web browser and an internet connection. This system was designed to be managed by the people whose data reside in it. It is intuitive and illustrative and is clear on how it displays your data. If you can use Google© Earth then you can use our system with very little instruction.

Education.

Understanding history and preserving culture help strengthen your community. SpatialQ understands your concerns about teaching your children and loss of identity. The value of your TUS, TEK and cultural information is lost if it sits in a box somewhere collecting dust. SpatialQ allows users to search audio and video clips, photos and textual materials. The educational possibilities are endless. Students will enjoy listening to oral stories about hunting and fishing, watching video clips of their elders speaking about changes to animal populations and weather patterns, seeing their past through historical photos of sacred places and learning how their ancestors lived on the very land on which they stand today. SpatialQ unleashes the power of your history.

Consultation (BETA)

SpatialQ revolutionizes the consultation process. It quickly provides revealing information about the relationship between your TUS/TEK data and any industrial activity on the landscape. SpatialQ’s ‘Consultation Engine’ evaluates the certainty of conflict between established culturally significant areas and industrial development - SpatialQ illuminates and reports on these areas of concern. It allows you to perform these tasks without the need for classically trained GIS specialists. SpatialQ puts the power of your data right at your fingertips.

Although still in BETA development, the use by data holders has proven successful.
